Hollow | Alice
in Chains |
---|---|---|
Hell yeah, the grunge veterans
Alice in Chains did it again! They grabbed by #1 of the year in 2009
with Check my Brain, and they
manage to make this achievement again in 2013 with Hollow! It was not easy to choose a
#1 this year. Hollow was my
first idea, then I changed my mind (in favor of the song that ends at
#2 and that you will find out very soon) for 2 days in late December,
but I was finally not cumfortable with this choice so I came back to my
first idea! Actually, it is pretty simple: Hollow was released on January 8th
and followed my all year long.
It therefore marvelously represent my
2013 musical year. It is not a very complicated composition, but very
efficient with a wise use of the 2 guitars to reach to all the power
they need. A song climate very similar to A Looking in View 's (my #3 of
2009), but without anything too long and better built to peak, starting
at
the solo. Jerry Cantrell, "you're the man"! Congratulations for this
new #1! |
2 |
God is Dead? | Black
Sabbath |
---|---|---|
A very serious #1 contender! It's the only big
development track (not too verse-chorus-verse) in the top 10 this year,
and one of the very rare ones in general except the other ones from
Black Sabbath! I went very close to name God is Dead? my
#1 of 2013, but I didn't feel cumfortable with this choice since I
listened to Hollow much more
often and I found it more representative of my year, so here is finally
Black Sabbath at #2! A little masterpiece of 8:52 very well tweaked by
experimented composers, so that it feels short like a good 5-minute
song. We could hardly have asked for more for this great return, as a
first single of the band's first album since
1995, and most importantly first sung by Ozzy Osbourne since 1978!!!
Did God is Dead? launched a
new era?... |

By Crooked Steps | Soundgarden |
---|---|---|
Without a doubt, the most underrated song of 2013
according to me. I took it lightly at first, but after many plays, I
ended up getting all the genie, all the detail and all the intensity
even if it's not an heavy song at alle. It got an extremely low media
coverage that absolutely doesn't reflect its value. BY FAR the best
song of Soundgarden's comeback (the other radio singles being Live to
Rise, Been Away too Long
and Halfway There, all good
songs nonetheless), actually I would consider it seriously for the top
5 of their great career. Don't hesitate to listen, listen again, and
listen once again, and do not miss to watch the video, first experience
of the great Dave
Grohl as a music video director! By the way, as Grohl himself said : "It's
such
an
awesome
Soundgarden
song". |
4 |
Stone | Alice
in Chains |
---|---|---|
A 2nd single that can hardly disappoint! Very
nice main riff all in "bend"
(concept somewhat reminding the memorable Check my Brain), moment dark and
intense at the same time before the solo, and once again a very
efficient use of the two guitars and of the two singers. A solid
#4. |
5 |
Mind Your Manners | Pearl Jam |
---|---|---|
This one, I admit, it's probably just due to my
Pearl Jam fan side! Except for the little interesting intro, there
really isn't anything very special in this track. The guitars are
rather simplistic and the overall track reminds me a lot of Spin the Black Circle, a marginal
success off of the Vitalogy
album (1994). But this is where Pearl Jam's magic occurs; they manage
to make the best of their composition and to give us the (false!)
impression of a great intensity. Singer Eddie
Vedder certainly has a major role into that, and probably also the
heart of drummer Matt Cameron. |
6 |
Blood Host | Scar
the Martyr |
---|---|---|
I liked it immediately the first time. I thought
it was (finally!) some new Slipknot, until I learn that it was actually
a new band from Joey Jordison, famous Slipknot drummer! That show this
is clearly remaining in a
Slipknot-like tone. Without being a great composition, nor really a
very original product, they worked hard to reach to such a great sound,
and it is sometimes the difference is in the details. Will Slipknot
manage to make even better in 2014 with its much-anticipated return on
disc? The bar is high, but we'll see! |
7 |
Do me a Favor | Stone Sour |
---|---|---|
I wondered the whole year on to what extent I
liked this one. In short, I love everything except the choruses that I
don't really like! I find the choruses sound like a lullaby for kids
disguised with an electric guitar, and even there, a boring electric
guitar, without a soul. One thing's sure though, Corey Taylor's vocal
performance is, once again, fully meeting expectations. It ain't easy
to give a global appreciation on the sum of all this. Until late
December, I was about to rank it 5th, but I finally decided to move Mind Your Manners and Blood Host ahead of it, and I think
that this #7 is fair. The video is pretty special also: |
8 |
Decay | Sevendust |
---|---|---|
Certainly a career-best for this band of the late
'90s. Really, very solid! It would be ahead of Do me a Favor in my esteem today,
but I will keep it behind considering that I've had more love for the
other one in early 2013. |
9 |
Vilify | Device |
---|---|---|
Device is the new project of Disturbed's David
Draiman
(hoo ha-ha-ha-ha!!) and Geno Lenardo from Filter, who then completed
the band with a member of Dope and Will Hunt, drummer for multiple acts
including Evanescence. Although the final result sounds more electronic
and I would even say a little more Filter,
Draiman is so unique that we believe in a new Disturbed single! And it
is absolutely not disappointing as a new
Disturbed single! Good work from Draiman and a good piece of rock, hard
and villain! |
10 |
Trenches | Pop Evil |
---|---|---|
Nice discovery for me this year, this American
band Pop Evil. I loved Trenches,
a
very
solid
#10
that's
actually
not
far
from a top 5, and I even liked
the next single, that you will find out a little further in this chart.
The guitar, the bass and the voice are all good, only the drumming is
very ordinary in Trenches. I
will definitely continue to watch this band with interest! |
11 |
My God is the Sun | Queens of the
Stone Age |
---|---|---|
An intense track, a very good first single that
was nominated for "Best rock performance" at the last Grammy awards
(but lost to Imagine Dragons' Radioactive)
and
that
also
contributed
to
the
nomination
of
the ...Like
Clockwork
album for "Best rock album" (beaten by Celebration Day from Led Zeppelin). |
12 |
Soldierhead | Newsted |
---|---|---|
Very nice piece of metal for the former Metallica
bassist, Jason Newsted. I always liked it more and more, until reaching
my #12. I honestly didn't really like his other singles released this
year, but Soldierhead has
really pleased me! |
13 |
Came Back Haunted | Nine Inch Nails |
---|---|---|
The old, but so efficient, Nine Inch Nails
recipe! The various sound tracks are getting added progressively, one
after the other, until reaching a very rich sound. Master Trent Reznor
remains just as relevant after all these years. |
14 |
Misery Loves my Company | Three Days Grace |
---|---|---|
This will probably be Three Days Grace's last
track with its excellent singer Adam
Gontier, who left the band in January. What a loss! He was turning
almost any song from the band to something good, including this one...
although this one was also having very beautiful guitar sounds! Quite
simple, very verse-chorus-verse and very short (2:40), but it obvisouly
doesn't get lost in anything too long, and its finale leaves us on a
high! |
15 |
A-M-E-R-I-C-A | Motionless
in
White |
---|---|---|
They obviously take themselves for Marilyn Manson
a little too much, but still, a very good solid rock track with good
lyrics, well supported by the video. |
16 |
Shepherd of Fire | Avenged
Sevenfold |
---|---|---|
Even if they end up extremely close of each other
in the chart, I clearly and unambiguously preferred the 2nd single from
the Hail to the King album, Shepherd of Fire, to the first one,
the title track Hail to the King.
It
is
not
their
best
chorus,
but
I
really fully get into the intro,
the part when coming back from the solo,
well the parts where the drums are so characteristic and the wind
instruments so well integrated. A very good track that doesn't really
surprise because it's from the legendary Avenged
Sevenfold, but if the same song had came from a new band, I think it
would have been a big buzz! |
17 |
Mountain | Disfiguring the
Goddess |
---|---|---|
We'll even grant it a 4th guitar!
:D Seriously, I heard this track only once on the radio, it was
on radio station
Liquid Metal on the Sirius XM satellite radio, possibly the heaviest
radio station on Earth, and the host presented Mountain
as probably the heaviest thing he heard in his life!!! But beyond being
extremely heavy, I see a lot of intelligence into it! A lot of variety
in so little time (only 2:52), many good ideas, a combinaison of real
drums and electronic drumming, a sound with care for almost every
detail... And the most impressive is that
Disfiguring the Goddess is actually a single man, Cameron "Big
Chocolate" Argon, who does EVERYTHING! He sings, plays all the
instruments, and do the mixing! Very impressive! Even
Trent Reznor can take more help than that! Warning though : sensible ears, keep away at all costs! If any of the previous songs seemed a little rough to you, this one make your ears bleed abundantly!!! You have been warned! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLWxM3fcbNE&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=16 |

Hail to the King | Avenged
Sevenfold |
---|---|---|
First single of a much-anticipated album! I was
disappointed at first, I was expecting more loudness, more of the big
(low) strings and less of the small (high) strings. But since it was
one of the major rock hits of the year, I heard it so often, liking it
always more and more. There is a little something epic in the first
notes of the song, and one must admit that there is a guitarist who
does a great job in this song! Hail to A7X! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DelhLppPSxY&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=17 |
19 |
The High Road | Three Days Grace |
---|---|---|
Not really a great song, even slightly kitsch,
but singer Adam Gontier uplifts it wonderfully, with a cute orchestral
arrangement. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cvnk_DSUq3E&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=18 |
20 |
In The End | Black
Veil
Brides |
---|---|---|
A little oldie "'80s metal" touch made me
question for whole year whether I liked it just a little bit or pretty
much. But let's forget the often-heard biases on BVB (with which I
don't really agree),
it's a well-executed rock track, very well polished with the violons
and very well-dosed sound effects (not exagerated at all). BVB at #20
of my year, why not? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0EQlIzPowM&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=19 |
21 |
Fly on the Wall | Thousand
Foot
Krutch |
---|---|---|
Very nice! The guitars are left to a completely
secondary rank, but the voice and various orchestra instruments elevate
the song to a very high level. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oyj6qVLS154&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=20 |

King for a Day | Pierce the
Veil feat. Kellin Quinn |
---|---|---|
A little too much screaming, but very energetic
and pretty good overall! Good finale. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icXUkIfZxyg&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&feature=share&index=21 |

Out of Time | Stone
Temple Pilots feat. Chester Bennington |
---|---|---|
Excellent match between the DeLeo
brothers and Chester from Linkin Park! I have nothing against the voice
of Scott
Weiland, but I honestly don't miss him when I hear Chester in Out of Time! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56RPSyfz2cY&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=22 |

Howl | Beware
of
Darkness |
---|---|---|
Another nice revelation of 2013. This Californian
band (which doesn't sound Californian at all) introduces itself with an
absolutely memorable guitar riff and very good choruses. I like the
verses less, but not enough to lose my attention! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESt3W__GNJw&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=23 |
25 |
Judge, Jury and Executioner | Atoms for
Peace |
---|---|---|
New project of Radiohead's legendary singer, Thom
Yorke. It is definitely more
"esoteric" and less rock than Radiohead, and to be honest I don't like
many of their songs, but this one is really excellent. It is based in
great part on a very simple sequence of 4 bass notes, but the sound is
rich enough so that this repetition doesn't get boring even after more
than 3 minutes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4tW3mhp9io&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&feature=share&index=24 |

From Can to Can't | Corey Tayler, Dave Grohl, Rick Nielsen, Scott Reeder |
---|---|---|
Big collaboration for the Sound City documentary
soundtrack: Corey Taylor (singer of Slipknot and Stone
Sour, occasional contributor on other projects) on vocals, Dave
Grohl (Nirvana drummer, lead singer-guitarist-author-composer of the
Foo Fighters) on the drums, Rick Nielsen (Cheap
Trick guitarist) on the guitar, Scott Reeder (Kyuss bassist) on the
bass and Butch Vig (member of Garbage and producer of albums Nevermind (Nirvana) and Gish (The Smashing Pumpkins) at the
console! A good song! It starts a little slowly, but I like the
progression leading to the "This
is
where
I
will
blur
my
line". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2GCp8vs168&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=25 |

Swerve City | Deftones |
---|---|---|
I didn't even like it at the beginning! I was
finding this "vegetable", but I tamed it and after all I like it very
much! It is actually slightly penalized because I took so much time
before liking it.
It's a direct track, that starts right on the first second with the
same intensity that will follow for nearly all the song's length.
Lyrics too short, no long finale, really a quick but well-made punch! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1ldLN75YBA&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&feature=share&index=26 |

Now | Paramore |
---|---|---|
Without any doubt my favorite from the band. Less
punk, less easy, smarter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G133kjKy91U&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&feature=share&index=27 |
29 |
Deal with the Devil | Pop Evil |
---|---|---|
Not as catchy as Trenches, but it's really a very,
very strong #29! Certainly also a bit penalized by its release late in
the year, else it could have certainly aimed at the top 25! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYFl1yBYTZA&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&feature=share&index=28 |

Go to Hell, for Heaven's Sake | Bring me the Horizon |
---|---|---|
A band from the United Kingdom that we merely
start discovering in America. A song with maybe a little too much
screaming, but on the other end that "punches" a relatively soft (and
very beautiful) music. They create something special with this song.
That said, it's the band's only single that you will find on this
chart; I didn't like Can you Feel my
Heart
at all and even less Sleepwalking. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7cczTyQ4iY&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&feature=share&index=29 |

The Hangman's Body Count | Volbeat |
---|---|---|
The Danish band continues its progression in the
rock planet and delivers its biggest hit to date. It even ended at #2
on the 2013 chart of Octane, the
"hard rock" station of the Sirius XM satellite radio! Really a good
song, with a good intro which melody will follow us over the whole
track's length, very intense verses, catchy lyrics, well-placed little
guitar solos... Not much to say against this, except maybe the little
intensity drop when we get to the choruses. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TT-VWmWHYP8&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=30 |
32 |
Inhaler | Foals |
---|---|---|
Very good! It could seem a little long to kick
off at the beginning, but after listening to it a few times I
understood that it was very well-built like that. Big deepness in this
sound. I feel a nice maturity for such a young band. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJ_PMvjmC6M&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&feature=share&index=31 |

Where did the Angels Go? | Papa Roach |
---|---|---|
Just as I was wondering that Papa
Roach was starting to age badly, that most of their last radio singles
were soft and not much inspired, what a pleasure it is to see them
rebound with one of their hardest tracks to date! They still have
balls! :-) I did not find this song catchy at all, meaning
that I was never having this song stuck in my head this year, but it
was always very fun each time I listened to it, right from its first
notes! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aknedws1g94&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&feature=share&index=32 |

Sick of It | Skillet |
---|---|---|
Absolutely not to be perceived as an immature
"I'm
sick of it, fuck you
all"! It's a little bit what I perceived after the first 2-3 times I
heard it on the radio, but then I heard the band in interview who was
actually explaining that it was not understanding why they were getting
this kind of comments as if their song was negative, while it's the
exact opposite! According to
Skillet themselves, it's a song on a very positive note, that
encourages to "raise your hand" and advise that something's not right,
express yourself and stop accepting a situation of abuse that will push
you towards depression, or worse. "No
one can make this better, take control,
it's now or never!" is the quote that better represent the
song's spirit; certainly "Take control"
would
have
been
a better choice of title than "Sick
of it". When we listen to it
with that philosophy in mind, it changes everything. Despite a pretty
simple composition, some magic installs and we can hardly stay in place
without at least bob our head! A song that woiuld have certainly ranked
even higher if I had liked it in the beginning as much as I like it
today in early 2014. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHzU-9iozmo&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&feature=share&index=33 |

Adrenalize | In
This Moment |
---|---|---|
The metal planet's top pin-up and her musicians
came back to us right at the beginning of the year with another solid
track that doesn't leave indifferent. I didn't like it right away, but
I couldn't have made any other way than ending up falling under its
charm, mostly because of its extremely intense
part starting at 3:03. I feel my blood rush to my brain during that
segment, it's a special feeling! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXMfdpjnAHU&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&feature=share&index=34 |
36 |
Elephant | Tame
Impala |
---|---|---|
A little retro, a type of sound that we're no
longer used to hear, but nonetheless intense and rousing. Very pleasant
to my ears! I think that this track could please a very large audience.
Detail to mention: the band comes from Australia, something that seems
to have become rare these past few years. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnKUD_OztRE&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&feature=share&index=35 |

Elegy | Fleshgod
Apocalypse |
---|---|---|
Surprising symphonic metal band from Italy
(certainly the first Italy-based band I knew in my whole life!),
brutal, gloomy and melodious all at once. A very good track! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKzmT-VhrnA&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=36 |

The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here | Alice
in Chains |
---|---|---|
Not really a radio single actually, it didn't
play at any radio as far as I know, but an official video was released
on YouTube exactly the same day (Sept. 5) as the one for pure radio
single Voices.
I decided without too much hesitation that this qualify for this annual
chart. Another very good song from the album of the same name, the 4th
best song of the album according to me. It is in a slower and more
"soaring" style than the average AIC, but very efficient with a good
and original riff in the verses, very lucid and meaningful lyrics, a
very good development even if the whole remains nonetheless pretty much
in the "verse-chorus-verse" model, and voices inspiring mystery with a
little touch of horror! Very very good! I would have liked to give it a
greater ranking, but the competition is so strong ahead of it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0_2Wq9Aos4&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&feature=share&index=37 |

That Day | Nonpoint |
---|---|---|
The Florida-based band is making my annual chart
for a 3rd year (after 2008 and
2012) with That Day, a track
that's uneven but very good overall. It starts with a lot of power
right from the first note and that goes on during the whole intro,
which then cleverly blends in a verse where the intro's powerful riff
alternates with another riff a little more hidden but fast and very
well-executed. It's absolutely wonderful! Only the choruses are not
satisfying my appetite, and the chorus are not something to neglect
neither, that's why That Day
finds itself slightly lower this year than Left For
You did last year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rp0_tyDHR-U&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=38 |

Good Man | Devour the
Day |
---|---|---|
Constantly slown down, blocked, like an American
football game! Fortunately, some kind of release ends up happening at
some point, bringing more contrast. A good track very catchy, that
regularly appeared in my head this year. I love the effect used near
the end of the verses before moving to the chorus. I'm actually not
sure with which instrument they do that
(maybe simply an ordinary guitar), but anyhow it definitely adds a nice
touch of
professionalism. Impressive also when we learn that this American band
is actually a duo, with one musician doing the guitar and bass and a
singer who who plays the drums and guitar! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70FI3c2ARKM&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=39 |
41 |
If I Had a Tail | Queens of the
Stone Age |
---|---|---|
Another catchy song. Nothing genius, but there's
a nice little groove. It's also a kind of "one size fits all" song that
we can listen to in almost any state of mind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjYZToXuJaM&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=40 |
42 |
Perfect Life | Red |
---|---|---|
Aternative rock that certainly doesn't leave the
ordinary, but this is once again a catchy track. The American band hits
the target with a performance that simply flows well, somewhat like
some Green Day! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpOmvepphbU&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=41 |

Take me to the Grave | Blacklite
District |
---|---|---|
Blackilte District is yet another good small
American band discovered in 2013. If many discovered them only near the
end of the year with With me Now,
me
I already liked their 1st single Take
me
to
the
Grave, released in late December 2012, but which I personnally
rather discovered in the very first days of January 2013. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96tj7osQRzo&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=42 |

You Think You Know | Device |
---|---|---|
David Draiman seems to auto-plagiarize with
verses and choruses so similar to those of Stricken (Disturbed, album Ten Thousand Fists, 2005) that it's
shameful! However, when we manage to make abstraction of this major
downside, it's an excellent song! Powerful intro, catchy chorus, very
interesting vocal effects in the choruses and even more nearing the
finale, etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xr2phSxlCb4&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&feature=share&index=43 |

The Lion | Monster
Truck |
---|---|---|
A track that wonderfully opened the first part of
the Alice in Chains concert that I've seen in Montréal this
Summer, and I was happy to find it back as a radio single later in the
year. It's some "ordinary" rock, but catchy with a riff that I like
very much. I had not liked the 1st single Sweet Mountain River, but The Lion reconciled me well with the
Canadian band who won the latest Juno award for best new artist. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=De44s3w2iZA&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&feature=share&index=44 |

Halfway There | Soundgarden |
---|---|---|
A little look at the soft side of Soundgarden!
One of their softest in career, not very intense but nonetheless very
good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxYCQJW89Wc&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&feature=share&index=45 |

Cut me Some Slack | Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, Pat Smear |
---|---|---|
Honestly, my expectations were even much higher.
A "Nirvana reunion", as Sir Paul says! But it, after all, doesn't have
much to do with Nirvana. This track is neither grunge nor punk, Dave's
drumming is not at the level of what he was doing in
Nirvana, the teenage lyrics are very far of Cobain's writings, and
(risking to shock many Beatles fans!) Paul's voice is not even a little
close to Cobain's, for my personal tastes. But beyond the deception, it
remains a rock track that has its strengths and that I listened to very
often in
2013. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=624HfkMty_8&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=46 |

I find the choruses a little weak, but the rest
is pretty fun! Another good song this year for Sevendust, although much
less satisfying than Decay. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBhZKGqpC64&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=47 |

Never Never | Korn |
---|---|---|
Yeah, some Korn with a single guitar in my legend
of electric guitars! Would you believe that! The band's first song
since the return of Brian "Head" Welch in the lineup, after a 8 year
absence. I don't know if it's Head's influence, but the band has
suddenly got so much older! We still feel the electronic shift of the
previous album, but without a "punch" nor audacity! Very deceiving at
first, but after some time, this catchy song got stuck into my head for
good. I like the guitar effects during the verses, and the very
polished sound in general. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cl2D7J_FL_U&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=48 |

Dead City Radio and the New Gods of Supertown | Rob Zombie |
---|---|---|
Rob Zombie who puts the metal genre away for a
relatively mainstream rock. Very far from being his best, but there
still are some elements that I like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ey-AmU6Nbgk&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&feature=share&index=49 |

The Anarchist | Rush |
---|---|---|
Une très bonne pièce, mais pas
accrocheuse!

End of the Beginning | Black
Sabbath |
---|---|---|

With me Now | Blacklite
District |
---|---|---|

mon propre individu" ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ps74i-TRE-o&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=53 |

Weak | Seether |
---|---|---|
more love to purchase, I've invested in myself", ou plus tard : "Take your observations and turn them on
yourself". Une chanson arrivée vers la fin
décembre, pour laquelle mon intérêt augmentera
sûrement au début de 2014. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDf99EfC-D4&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=55 |

Feeling Good | The

---|---|---|

I Sat by the Ocean | Queens of the Stone Age |

The Vatican | Sepultura |
---|---|---|
ce long

We Don't Belong | Black Veil Brides |
---|---|---|

X-Kid | Green Day |

Voices | Alice in Chains |
---|---|---|
de l'album The Devil Put Dinosaurs

If So | Atlas Genius |
---|---|---|

Temple | Kings of Leon |
---|---|---|

Keep on Swinging | Rival Sons |

Ça sonne limite rétro pour moi,
mais ça passe encore! Beau "riff" de guitare, bien
supporté par la basse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ijOlAR3zs8&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=73 |

Reflektor | Arcade Fire |
---|---|---|
douceur.
étiré, sans but.

le 1er extrait Mind Your Manners. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQXP6TDtW0w&feature=share&list=PLY6UBq9eQg7h3Q0lfd1F5GZ6EMRVCMNQh&index=77 |

Blurred Lines | Robin
Thicke feat. T.I. & Pharrell |
---|---|---|

Addicted to Pain | Alter Bridge |
---|---|---|
Nuance majeure cependant : Taylor a

d'AWOLNATION (2011). Ça ne vaut évidemment pas
